IPL: Auction After Effects

Welcome dear readers, To the post – auction article for the 2023 IPL Auction!!!  It was held on 23 rd December at Kochi, and I must say there was no shortage of excitement. As is the case in most auctions, the all rounders went for the highest prices, and Sam Curran broke all records by going to PBKS as the most expensive player in the history of IPL.  The owner of Punjab Kings, Ness Wadia, has reportedly told after the auction that letting go of Curran in 2020 ‘was a mistake’, and that the mistake was corrected this year. Well, at least he publicly accepts ONE of the million mistakes they’ve made in terms of releasing players and in the auction. With some expected bidding wars, some unexpected ones, unknown domestic talent going for sky high prices, known international talent going for base price, some reversed bidding decisions, the auction was filled with fun, furor and drama.  Without further ado, let’s see how each team fared at the auction table. 1. IPL Auctions - Mixture of Madness

Hello dear readers!!! Welcome to the 2023 IPL auction special article of our Parinaama Sports Blog. I’m gonna be sharing a few things that I feel about this year’s auction, which is going to be a mini one. That’s because we had a mega auction last year, and the next mega auction isn’t likely to come up anytime soon. Ok let’s take a step back.  Mini and mega auctions?! What’s that?! Well, you see, as I’d mentioned in the previous article, last year saw the introduction of 2 new teams, making IPL a 10-team tournament. That’s when the BCCI said to all teams – guys, mandatory shuffling of teams.  The scenario became similar to primary classes, when the principal instructs shuffling of sections, and existing students cry about missing their friends while new entrants are eager to make new friends.  Existing teams could retain only a maximum of 4 players from their squad, while the 2 new teams could randomly pick 3 players as their initial signings before the auction. It was a long time thought of mine that I should express my sports enthusiasm in a form of art that I’m fond of – writing. After lots of thinking, hesitation, and taking inputs from our very own Author, I decided that the splendid combination of my 2 amazing hobbies shall take place in none other than the ever-safe space of Parinaama. * manifesting a job like this * So, readers, it is with great happiness and joy that we, at Parinaama, present to you the very first article of our Sports Blog. Let me give you a little background t o present an insight into how the Sports Blog shall proce...

Insights from MBA - Work, Play, Tea and Everything in Between

It's 12:38 AM in my clock.  I'm on holidays.  Ideally I could be asleep. But I'm not. I honestly miss the life at campus, where, on a regular day, I'd be in a frenzied brainstorming session with my group mates, trying to squeeze our collective brain cells to come up with a presentation for the 8 AM lecture next day.  I've had plenty of ups and downs, surprises and disappointments, core memories and gut wrenching experiences in a bundle of mere 6 months with this course. Each day would be different in its challenges. Navigating everything  - new approaches to lectures, discussions, interpersonal relationships, the dynamic campus layout (it deserves a Marauder's Map), being boxed into a solo room, finding friends, finding yourself... the list goes on!! - and trying to stay afloat without nearing burnout is an achievement of its own. I was foolish enough to think I could glide through this with grace. I had accumulated so many useful mindsets, techniques, tools and...
